The creation of new things invariably involves the destruction of the old. In commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the demolition of the original theatre, the Basler Compagnie is hosting a two-day mini-festival to inaugurate the anniversary month.
The creation of a new art space on the site of the former theatre represents a significant cultural development, with the project combining a reflective examination of the past with a forward-looking perspective.
However, the question must be posed: has the time come to consider another demolition? A demolition expert and a bodybuilder engage with their spatial environment/muscle mass in order to implode it in a coordinated choreography.
