Zurich’s industrial foundations were laid in factories such as Escher-Wyss, Oerlikon Bührle and BBC – underpinned by the labour of numerous migrants.
ANATOMIA DELL’APPARTENENZA brings the migration history of the working-class to life. The short play highlights the paradox faced by seasonal workers: whilst they underpinned the post-war economic boom, they were forced to live in inhumane conditions without any political rights. Three Italian dancers translate historical moments in labour migration into a contemporary language of movement and explore the links to today’s labour and migration policies.
